Newcastle complete the signing of Anthony Gordon from Everton.

Antony Gordon, 21, has joined Newcastle United.

Newcastle United have secured the signing of Anthony Gordon from Everton on a long-term deal, as manager Eddie Howe aims to maintain their push for a top-four finish.

Gordon, 21, has joined the Magpies for a reported fee of 40 million pounds.

The England forward sat out three days of training due to unrest as Goodison Park.

He expressed his excitement about the move in a statement to NUFC TV, saying, "I was convinced Newcastle was the right choice for me as soon as I heard about their interest."

"I think the fan base and city really suits me as a person, the way the team are playing under the gaffer at the minute really suits me, and the club just look like they're heading in the right direction.

"I feel like it's really big step. People haven't seen what I'm capable of yet. I think under the gaffer, and the way the club's going, I can really excel here."

Magpies manager Howe made the move to strengthen his attacking options, with his team holding a small three-point lead over Spurs, who are in 5th place, in the pursuit of a Champions League berth.

Gordon joined Everton's academy aged 11 after being released by Liverpool and made his professional debut in 2017.

The 21-year-old England Under-21 played 78 matches for his hometown club and scored 7 goals.

He is ineligible to play in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Southampton on Tuesday, where Newcastle holds a 1-0 lead.

He is, however, expected to make his debut for the club on February 4 against West Ham United.
